How to Book Make-Up Lessons Through the App

This article will show you how to book a make-up lesson using the mobile app. 

Make-up lessons allow students to catch up on a class they missed due to illness, injury, or other valid reasons.

Please note that a valid make-up lesson token is required for booking a make-up

Activating a Make-up Token

Make-up tokens are issued when a valid, explained absence is recorded for the student. Absences can be recorded in the following ways:

1. Customer Portal or App

   • Customers can log an absence through the attendance section of the portal or app.

   • The recorded absence must meet the criteria set by your organization for a valid make-up token to be issued.

2. Staff Recording the Absence in First Class

   • Staff can record an absence on behalf of a student through the attendance feature within First Class.

   • To do this, navigate to the student’s profile, locate the enrolled class, and click the small arrow on the left side of the class panel to access the attendance options and record the absence.

Important note: You need to be aware of your logic rules for how make-up tokens are assigned. If your settings are set to "after class date" for make-up requirements, the token for that explained absence will only become valid once the class date for the EA class has passed.

For example, if today is October 1st and you record an absence for October 20th, a token will not become available for us until the 20th of October has passed.

Use of the "any time" make-up setting means explained absences will immediately result in a valid make-up token.

Once a student has a valid make-up token, booking a make-up lesson can proceed.

Follow these steps to book a replacement lesson through the :

Step 1 - Launch the First Class App on your device and tap "Get Started" to proceed.

Step 2 - Log In.

Enter your email and password, then click Sign In. 

Note: If you don’t know what to write under organisation,  please contact your facility to get this information.

Step 3 - Go to the Booking Section (see highlighted).

Step 4 - If you have more than one child, select the student you want to book a make-up lesson for.  (Skip this step if you only have one child)

Step 5 - Click the "Make-Up Lesson" Tab.  This will display the available make-up lesson options.

Step 6 -  Select the class you want to book a make-up lesson for and click "Make Booking". 

This will take you to the Book Student page.

Note: You can only book a make-up lesson if you have an Available Token.

Step 7 - Review Your Booking. Double-check the class details. 

Once confirmed, click "Add to Bookings."

Step 8 -  After adding the class, go to "My Bookings" to verify that the class has been successfully added.
