How to Book Make-up Lessons

Make-up lessons give students the opportunity to catch up on a class they missed due to illness, injury, or other valid reasons.

Booking Make-up Lessons in First Class

Students can book make-up lessons in First Class through two methods. Please note that a valid make-up lesson token is required for booking a make-up

Activating a Make-up Token

Make-up tokens are issued when a valid, explained absence is recorded for the student. Absences can be recorded in the following ways:

1. Customer Portal or App

   • Customers can log an absence through the attendance section of the portal or app.
   • The recorded absence must meet the criteria set by your organization for a valid make-up token to be issued.
     

2. Staff Recording the Absence in First Class

   • Staff can record an absence on behalf of a student through the attendance feature within First Class.
   • To do this, navigate to the student’s profile, locate the enrolled class, and click the small arrow on the left side of the class panel to access the attendance options and record the absence.

You can record an explained absence for a specific class date by pressing the E option in the attendance panel.

Important note: You need to be aware of your logic rules for how make-up tokens are assigned. If your settings are set to "after class date" for make-up requirements, the token for that explained absence will only become valid once the class date for the EA class has passed.

For example, if today is October 1st and you record an absence for October 20th, a token will not become available for us until the 20th of October has passed.

Use of the "any time" make-up setting means explained absences will immediately result in a valid make up token.

Once a student has a valid make-up token, booking a make-up lesson can proceed.

Below we explore how to book a make-up lesson

Booking a Makeup Lesson from the facility login (Weekly view)

Step 1 - Within the Classes menu, click “Weekly View”.

Step 2 - In the weekly view, search and select the student. 

Step 3 - Click the class on the desired date that you want to book a makeup lesson

Step 4 - It will open a modal, then select the “Makeup lesson” under the Booking Type dropdown list.

Step 5 - Click the “Confirm Booking” button

Step 6 - It will prompt a message toaster that the booking is saved.

Booking a make-up lesson via the parent portal login

Step 1 - Click the “Make-up Lessons” menu button

Step 2 - Select the class and click the “Make Booking” button. 

Note: You can only book a make-up lesson if you have available tokens.

Step 3 - It will open a modal then check to confirm you have read the terms and conditions.

Step 4 - Then click the “Confirm Booking” button. 

Step 5 - It will prompt a modal indicating you have successfully booked the student a makeup lesson.
