Using sub classes in First Class

What are sub classes

Sub classes are a useful feature in First Class that allows you to enrol students into multiple classes via a single enrolment into a main "parent" class.

For example, if you have a holiday camp class that runs all day and has an AM and PM component, you can have the customer enrol in the parent class and the student would automatically be enrolled in the AM and PM sub classes.

In the example above, the customer will end up with 3 enrolments, one for the full day camp, one for the AM session and another for the PM session.

This is useful when some customers may choose to book the whole day (and hence the student will do both AM and PM) or the customer may just select one of the sessions, in which case they can book one of the sub classes directly.

How to set up sub classes

Step 1: Set up your term. Eg. Holiday program summer 1
Step 2: Go to add/edit class and click on class builder
Step 3: Select the term, tick the days you want the class to run over, select time and duration. (Note duration in minutes so choose 360 for 6 hours for example)

Step 4: Search for and tick the level that you want to have for the parent class., select location, price type and amount for the class. (This will act as your parent class, you may wish to add a note that mentions parent class for holiday program for example)

Step 5: Once you have set up your parent class, you can commence creating your sibling/sub classes. Make sure you tick the option when creating, "issub class".

Strep 6: Link the sub classes to the parent class. Open the edit feature for the parent class, scroll down and on bottom right see sub classes drop down. Select the sub classes you wish to link to the parent class and save.
