How to link First Class with Xero custom connection


This article discusses the steps on how you can link your First class account with your Xero account.


Step 1: Buy a Xero custom connection (Small one-off fee)

Step 2: Go to developer Xero login and log into your account

Step 3: Click the new app button 


Step 4: Name the app (We suggest your business name then First Class, eg. Star Swim School First Class


Step 5- Choose a custom connection from the drop-down options



Step 6: Select the Create App option 



Step 7: Select the authorization access


We suggest choosing only the accounting-based options



Step 8: Then click save and connect



Step 9:  Email autorhisation


An email will be sent to your registered email address. 


Find this email and authorise the connection



Choose your company and select allow access. (Note, if you have not yet purchased a custom connection, you will not be able to proceed beyond this point)


Step 10: Now go back to the developer URL and click on configuration on the left menu panel. 



In this section, you will see a client ID and an option to generate a secret.


Step 11:  Record the client ID and secret 


Open your Xero settings in First Class (settings/general/Xero settings)


Enter your client ID and secret in this section.


Step 12: Add setting specifics


HasXeroaccount=1


AutomatedXerocron=1 - turn on auto syncing


Allow Xero payments=1 allow payments to flow in for selected payment types


Paymettype to Xero- Ask First Class support for your payment type ID's for the payment types you wish to flow into Xero


Xero payment code- The account code in which payments flow in 


Note: You must have account codes enabled for payments if you want the payments to flow in. 

From the dashboard, go to the settings tab > Chart of Accounts > click code > check the box that says Enable payments to this account. 


Email your IDs to support@memberretentionsystems.com with the following subject- Xero Set up: Organisation name 


Our support team will link your Xero account and confirm with you when the process is complete.
